Electricity transmission to third parties: The legally compliant and cost-saving metering concept
From January 1, 2022, privileged companies that pass on electricity to third parties on their premises must present a suitable, time-synchronized metering concept certified by an auditor. With the new econ4 energy management software, companies can comply with this stricter verification obligation in a legally compliant and cost-saving manner. The measurement concept has been certified by the auditing firm PwC.
With econ4, companies can both create their own measurement concept and implement a legally compliant measurement infrastructure. Optionally, BFE can take over data reporting to authorities and transmission system operators. This means that companies have a comprehensive energy monitoring system at their fingertips, can transparently measure and document their own consumption and delimit forwarded third-party quantities in compliance with the law. We also offer a modular 4-step model for implementing the legal requirements.
The econ solution consists of MID-compliant energy meters that are read by a data logger in 1-minute intervals and transmitted to a server with time synchronization. The recorded meter readings are transferred as 15-minute load profiles to the econ4 energy management software for further processing and storage. There, the third-party quantity accrual is visualized in a separate standard report format.
The new regulation affects companies that benefit from the reduced EEG levy or other electricity price privileges and are energy-intensive companies or operate a renewable self-generation system, e.g. a combined heat and power plant or a photovoltaic system. These can be industrial and commercial companies, but also hospitals and clinic operators.
As soon as these companies pass on electricity to third parties on their premises, such as the operator of a canteen or a radio antenna, they must have a metering concept with time-synchronous third-party quantity delimitation, calibrated meters and an auditor's certificate from 2022. Otherwise, they may lose their EEG privileges - possibly retroactively. Estimates that delimit self-consumed quantities and forwarded third-party quantities will no longer be permitted from 2022.
"With our new econ4 software and our modular solution package, companies are on the safe side when it comes to legally compliant third-party quantity delimitation. This means that operational energy management will remain simple in the future," explains Philip Würfel, Managing Director of econ solutions.
